My original coaching methodology combines design thinking, spirituality and psychology.
Where the process comes from
This original process is based on 20+ years of experience with two diverse modalities: personal and spiritual development tools that span the worlds of mindfulness meditation, somatic psychotherapy, tantra, and feminine embodiment — and proven, cutting-edge innovation practices (also known as ‘design thinking.’)
It’s about feelings and frameworks. Revealing self-knowledge and supercharging skill development. Overcoming fears and leveraging formulas.
The process comes to life in three phases:
-
Establish
The first phase is about moving from intellect into intuition. This allows us to re-establish harmony between the logical and emotional sides of our being. Here, we can explore our challenges in a new way — and begin to gather insight into what’s shaped us, where we want to go, and who we truly are.
-
Expand
This phase is about discovering the depth of who we are and expanding who we want to be. Here, we develop a map for ourselves, play with a host of ideas and possibilities, unshackle ourselves from logical limitations, and begin to re-discover our wisdom and power as creators.
-
Embody
The third part of this process is designed to activate your foundation, as well as help you to move into taking action around your mission and values. This is where we get to test, learn and iterate (as the business folk would say!) — and explore how we want to embody our deepest desires.
Why the process exists
You can have a breakthrough — without the breakdown.
Self-discovery allows us to move from the linear into the liminal (also known as the ‘unknown.’)
From the conscious into the unconscious.
And into a completely different way of being — not just doing.
It feels liberating. It feels empowering. And it also can feel incredibly disorienting.
Without structure and process, spiritual crisis can emerge.
Or what I like to call a “nervous breakthrough.”
The moments when you want to upend it all and move to Bali — or when your partner comes home and says they’re leaving to “find” themselves.
We need grounding and structure for sustainable personal development.
That’s where design thinking comes in.
It allows us to test and try new ideas before leaping.
To make thoughtful change that is a response — not a reaction.
And to experience the fullness of our emotional lives — without becoming flooded with an overwhelming opening.
Design thinking brings structure, tangibility, and integration to matters of the heart and spirit.
This means that authentic ‘newness’ can emerge and healthy change can happen.
Together, in one-to-one coaching, we will apply the design thinking framework to your life, and amplify the structure with spiritual, psychological and mystical modalities so that you can authentically embody your Self from the inside out — and from the outside in.
More on the process
“Cara’s coaching process floored me. I have been doing self-development work for years, and I received more benefit and took more action in three months than I have in three years.”
— Sarah, Founder & CEO
“I discovered and broke through patterns that therapists had been struggling to crack for years. It allowed me to finally open my heart to love again, and I am so happy.”
— Lin, Creative Writer and Mother
More on design thinking
“There is a subtle way that design thinking gets around the human biases or attachments to specific behavioral norms that time and again block the exercise of imagination.”
— Harvard Business Review, “Why Design Thinking Works”
“Design [thinking] can activate us as creators and change the way we see ourselves and others. Design is filled with optimism, hope, and the joy that comes from making things change by making things real.”
— Stanford d.School
